Play Hokm online with friends

Hokm is the classic Persian trick-taking card game. On ElyParty you take a seat at a beach table on a 3D island, talk with your teammate over voice chat, and play full matches against friends or AI bots - in the browser, with nothing to install.

What is Hokm?

Hokm is a Middle Eastern trick-taking game for two teams of two players, played with a standard 52-card deck. The Hakem - the ruler for that round - is dealt the first five cards and chooses the trump suit, called hokm. After that the rest of the cards are dealt and each team tries to win tricks.

The first team to take 7 tricks wins the round (dast) and scores a point. Win every trick and you score a koot. The first team to reach 7 points takes the match.

How a Hokm match runs on ElyParty

  • Walk to the beach card table and press E to sit down.
  • Choose a two-player draft match or a classic four-player table, with an optional point stake.
  • The Hakem looks at the first five cards and declares hokm. If that hand has no card above 10, the Hakem is automatically dealt a fresh hand.
  • Cards are played turn by turn with a 20-second clock, so a slow connection never stalls the table.
  • Win 7 tricks for the round: 1 point normally, 2 for koot, 3 for a hakem koot. First team to 7 points wins the championship.

Two-player Persian Hokm

If you only have one friend online, start a two-player Persian Hokm match. Cards are turned over one at a time from the deck: take the card to build your hand, or burn it and pass the choice on. Each pick has a 25-second clock, and once the hands are drafted the trick play works exactly like the four-player game.

Play against AI bots

You never need a full table to start playing. Add bots to fill the empty seats and play a complete match on your own, or invite friends and let the bots step aside.

If someone loses connection mid-match, a bot takes over their hand so the round continues instead of collapsing - your teammate will find the match waiting when they return.

Scoring and player points

ElyParty keeps a score for every player. Winning a hand is +1 point, a koot adds a +7 bonus, a hakem koot adds +14, and winning the championship adds another +7. Bots never collect player points - only human players do.

Those points are the island currency: creating your own island room costs 100 points. Playing Hokm is one of the fastest ways to earn them.

Talking while you play

Hokm is a team game, so talking to your partner matters. Press M to open your microphone while you are seated, or deafen all incoming audio with one tap in the header. Speaking players get a glowing halo above their avatar, and the island radio automatically ducks while somebody is talking.

Prefer to keep quiet? The chat drawer works for the table too, and your messages appear as speech bubbles over your character.

Frequently asked questions

Is Hokm on ElyParty free?
Yes. ElyParty is free to play and you can join as a guest - no email, password, or download required.
Can I play Hokm with only two players?
Yes. ElyParty supports two-player Persian Hokm with a draft phase, so you and one friend can play a full match.
Can I play Hokm against bots?
Yes. Bots can fill any empty seats. If a player drops offline or refreshes the page, their seat and cards are held for a minute while a bot covers their turns, and they return straight to the table when they reconnect.
How long does a Hokm match take?
A round is 7 tricks. Rounds end in roughly 1 to 3 points each, so most matches reach the 7-point target in 5 to 8 rounds.
Do I need a microphone to play?
No. Voice chat is optional - you can play entirely with the card table and text chat.
